There is always talk of following the Google guidelines. It is also recommended to be careful with your profile of the links, that at the same time, the search engine giant has more information about its algorithm, at any time, you can find a penalty in your project, either manual or algorithmic. Well, in today’s article I’m going to show a case of an online project that has managed to position itself in the most competitive searches of its sector, which is a very very competitive niche, and what has been a SPAM base.in this guide you will learn about SEO for WordPress 2019
To put you in a position, I’m going to show you the Sistrix graph so you can value yourself:
As you can see in the image, this is a project that started in March 2014 and has not stopped growing until today.
Before starting with the case study, simply comment that I do not share or recommend any type of technique that will be shown here. It is just a case of curious study that shows that Google is not as reliable as they are painted and, as you can see, even in competing niches where there are big companies competing like El Corte Ingles, Kiabi, etc., there may be leaders who are taking away a huge amount of traffic and sales only with SPAM.
Let’s start with the On Page SEO
Doing a quick analysis you can see how some of the most important factors within your page have them well controlled, that is, what any page of the sector has, nothing special. Here I show some important aspects as a list:
- CMS: It uses Prestashop, well configured and also eliminates the “ids” of each of its URLs, something quite positive.
- Robots.txt: Well implemented, blocking filters, directories and some files that the webmaster has decided is better for robots not to access.
- Sitemap.xml: More of the same, a well implemented sitemap, including in the said file the URLs that you want to send.
- Optimization of URLS: We see that it has friendly URLs, they are not too long and it avoids the well-known STOP WORDS.
- Pages: Here, too, the labeling that Google recommends in its guidelines is well implemented, the famous Pagination with rel = “next” and rel = “prev”.
- Up to here everything is correct, basic, but correct. Now I’m going to detail more important aspects within the internal optimization of the Site for search engines …
Here begins the party … Making a quick analysis of a category at random we find what you see in the image. As you see, the structure of Headings is funny, come on … that if Google has to be guided by this structure this page will not rank with the help of the stars.
As you can see, 5 h1, 5 h2, without following any logical structure, etc. I think that seeing the image you can draw your own conclusions …
Content in Categories
Here we enter a fun terrain. Some say that the minimum recommended in an ecommerce for both categories and product cards are 350 words of original content, others comment that more than 500, others even say that the more content is better, etc.
Well, I’ve done the average number of words you have in the categories, which is precisely what works best in the rankings, and what have I found? … Well something very funny, has an average of 120 words, in Some categories do not even reach 100 words.
What do you think of the superior image where I show the example of a category oriented to a very competitive keyword, for which it enjoys a privileged position? As you see, they have not invested much in editors, for them the Content is not the King 😀.
Keyword Density in Categories
In the previous section, I talked about the number of words, and how can it be otherwise, now I show you your% of keyword densities.
Here I could do many readings, although it is also true that with the little content they have in the categories, they can not do more than what is seen in the image. The words that I have covered are not much the word / s that you want to rank in this example, I have simply covered them, because they can show the theme of the page.
Something that I love, in what I trust for many reasons, the internal linking. Well, here comes the laugh 😀 😀: D. In this page there is not a single internal link other than those already known from the menu and Footer.
Little more to say at this point …
The funniest URL of the Project
I could not let this page escape. “A page to dominate them all”. In the previous point we talked about internal links that were conspicuous by their absence, because in the case of external links, it is the opposite.
Apparently the owner of this Site has many friends on the Web, we will on the day of his birthday as he has to invite all the “troops” that link will be more expensive than a wedding. As you can see in the image, the famous “Friends Links” page is present. Of course, I could not miss the party.
And no, this page has no “noindex” tag, nor is it blocked by Robots.
Other curious aspects of the Site
To not extend more in the section on page, I have listed a number of aspects to highlight at this point:
Duplicate titles and labels: 4747
Broken Links on the Site: Impossible, if there are no internal links xD
Exerternos Links: Some, most are friends 😀
Server Errors: No errors.
So far a brief On Site analysis of this project where you can see that this project, which is so well positioned in its niche market, is far from being an example to follow. Although honestly, from my point of view, I find it incredible and worthy of congratulating what you are getting.
Finish with an Off Page Analysis
Within this section I will simply show some curious aspects of the Linkbuilding strategy of this Site, something that will not leave anyone indifferent. For this analysis simply and quickly I will do it with Ahrefs.
In the title of the article I commented that the positioning of this Site has been based on SPAM, well, because here I am going to show you this SPAM from where it comes. In short, the link strategy used in this project has been links from all types of directories, profiles, pages with self-approved Pingbacks, comments and link farms. Come on … the one strategy worthy of being analyzed.
Let’s start by analyzing their numbers:
At first glance you can see that it has a high number of backlinks compared to the Refering Domains presented by the project. Nothing of the other world, since it can be that within its strategy of links has contracted some banners (clear nofollow) in newspapers, magazines or relevant pages, with what these banners would be repeated in many of the pages and for that reason the counting increases of backlinks, but this is not the case.
Now anlizo the curvature of obtaining links and the geographical location of each of them:
Here we can see strange things such as:
A big curve in October of last year that denotes that the link building has been somewhat aggressive.
In spite of being a project that goes only to Spain, they know it by the world, curious …
Despite being a page in Spanish, Russians, Chinese and even Indians have echoed this web.
Now if the party starts, let’s analyze some of the Sites that link to this Web:
I have taken a small part of the sites that link to this Site, and are somewhat curious, we have .tx, .pl, .ru, .uk, etc … we are going to a curious link profile. Also analyzing the theme of some of the websites that link you can find from rock groups to Chinese street markets, through a restaurant located in Pakistan quite curious.
To not extend more in this article I want to end with a website that links to a link DO-FOLLOW has this project that has called me enough attention. You can value for yourself:
